This policy explains what information CreatePieChart.com (“Create Pie Chart”, “we”, “us”) handles when you use the website, and the choices you have.

The short version

  • You don’t need an account, and we never ask for your name or email to make a chart.
  • Your charts, and any Excel or CSV files you open, are processed in your own browser. They are not uploaded to our servers.
  • We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used, and Google AdSense to show ads.
  • Google and its partners use cookies for these services. You can control them as described below.

1. Your charts and files

Chart data. Everything you type or paste into the chart maker is handled by code running in your browser. We do not receive or store the data you plot.

Excel and CSV files. When you import a file, it is read on your device. The file is never sent to us or to any other server.

Autosave. To keep your work between visits, your current chart is saved in your browser’s local storage on your device. You can remove it with the Reset button or by clearing your browser’s site data.

Share links and embeds. When you create a share link or embed code, your chart’s data is written into the link itself. We don’t keep a copy, but anyone who has the link can see the chart and its data, so only share links with people you trust with that information.

2. Information collected automatically

We use Google Analytics to see how visitors use the site so we can improve it. Google Analytics may collect information such as the pages you visit, how long you stay, your browser and device type, your approximate location (country or city), and the website that referred you. We also record simple actions such as “downloaded a PNG” or “imported a CSV file”. These events never include the contents of your chart or your files.

Like most websites, our hosting provider may keep standard server logs (such as IP address, browser type and the time of a request) for security and to keep the site running.

You can opt out of Google Analytics in any browser with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

3. Advertising

We use Google AdSense to show ads, which keeps Create Pie Chart free.

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
  • Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
  • You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google’s Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalized advertising at www.aboutads.info.

4. Cookies and your choices

Cookies are small files stored by your browser. On this site they are used by Google Analytics and Google AdSense as described above. Where the law requires it, for example in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, you will be asked for your consent before cookies are used for personalized ads, and you can change your choice at any time.

You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The chart maker will still work, although ads may be less relevant.

5. Sharing of information

We don’t sell your personal information, and we don’t share it except with the service providers described in this policy (Google Analytics, Google AdSense and our hosting provider), who process it to provide their services.

6. Children’s privacy

Create Pie Chart is a general-audience tool. Many people use it for school work, and no personal information is needed to use it. The site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal information about you, or to object to how it is used. Because we don’t hold accounts or chart data, most information about your visit is held by Google; you can manage it through the links above. For any other request, email us and we will help.

8. Data security

The site is served over HTTPS, and your charts stay on your device. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect the limited information involved.

9. Links to other websites

The site may link to other websites. Their privacy practices are their own, so please review their policies.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with a new “Last updated” date.
